UNDERSTANDING 2 : The purpose for hell

WHY do we need to understand the purpose for hell?

If you don’t know the purpose for hell then you might believe that God enjoys hurting people or causing them sorrow.

God did not prepare the punishment for Satan and the fallen angels with mercy and grace in mind.  The mercy and grace we enjoy, even when we are in our sins, leads many to believe that there is no pit, lake of fire, torment etc.  The idea that this kind of eternal punishment could last forever is inconceivable.  But Satan and the fallen angels are eternal beings.

In Matthew 25:41 Jesus announced that the everlasting fire was prepared for the devil, (Satan), and his angels.  It wasn’t made with humanity in mind. Isaiah 5:13-14 says that hell has enlarged itself because of people who have chosen disobedience.  God is love, and has a place that He has prepared with humanity in mind. 1 Cor 2:9

The First Sin

UNDERSTANDING : The First sin

WHY DO WE NEED TO UNDERSTAND IT?: There was a need to cleanse Heaven and punish Satan and his angels.

Okay.  There is a temple in heaven.  Yep. In Exodus 24: 17 , God called Moses out of the midst of a cloud.  God’s glory was like a devouring fire on the top of the mountain.  In verse 18 Moses went into the midst of the cloud.  Exodus 25: 8-9, Moses was told to make a sanctuary after the pattern that was shown to him.  Hebrews 8:1-5 sums up the purpose for the things that were made for the temple.  They were to serve as an example and a shadow of heavenly things, and act as a parable for things to come.

Lucifer was in heaven when he sinned.  Isaiah 14:12-15 points out that he wanted to be like the Most High.  This is good to keep in mind since he still does.  Rev 12:9 says the devil and his angels were cast onto the earth.  Jesus the Christ testifies in Luke 10:18 that Satan fell like lightning to the earth.  When Adam sinned the earth was defiled.  The same thing took place in heaven, when Lucifer and his angels sinned heaven was defiled.  There was a need to cleanse heaven and punish his angels

The process of an innocent lamb covering the sin of the people was the pattern that God gave the people.   This pattern would reveal to them that the true Lamb would come and cleanse, (not cover but cleanse) the temple in heaven and the people. The people would become the temple on earth. 1 Corinthians 3:16/ 2 Cor 6:16
